Valentines Day/Love Month

Bradford and I celebrated our first Valentines Day when we were 14. He got me flowers and a Yellowcard CD, I got him a BYU blanket (which we still use almost daily) and Mountain Dew. During high school, we always managed to be broken up on Valentines, which is weird because we dated way more than we didn't, but our break-ups always covered February 14. Junior year he brought me over a single rose, if that counts. While Bradford was on his mission we sent each other V-day packages, but we still weren't together to celebrate. Last year Bradford was at BYU so we had our own V-day because we couldn't get together for the real day. I guess that one kind of counts. But this year, 7 years later, we finally get to celebrate Valentines together on Valentines Day. Needless to say, I'm excited.

I will do another Valentines post later because it is the month of love and there are many many things I love!

Oh, and a shout out to my friends Shelly and Roxanne...They both are newly engaged!! Shelly is getting married May 10 (my b-day) and Zan on May 27th. They are both marrying Bountiful boys. That means that 5 of my 7 roomies and best friends married BHS boys (some older, some our same age). A little weird if ya ask me! Anyways, congrats!!

Jenessa

Surgery

I recently had surgery on my right wrist. Other than my tonsils at age three, i have never undergone surgery. Needless to say, it did not go quite as expected.

First off, it needs to be said that I think I am way more tough than I really am. Like what takes a "normal" person to heal will only take me half the time. Or it won't hurt that bad cause I can stand pain. I was actually planning on playing in on soccer game the night of my surgery (didn't happen). Obviously I was proven wrong...

Also, it should be said that I am typing this while on lortab with one hand, so if it doesn't make sense, thats why.

So I went into surgery feeling a little scared, but nothing too bad. I was just ready for it to be over. I went through the routine stuff (paperwork, weight, blood pressure, etc) just fine. Then came the iv...

I pass out very easily. Once in high school I passed out after giving blood and got a concussion. I have passed out cause I panicked swallowing pills or just from pain. So when it was time for the iv, I was trying so hard to tell myself I was fine and make me feel better. The iv went in and I didn't feel a thing...but then I peaked. I was not ok with a tube being in my body. I looked at Bradford and told him I was going, after that I don't remember a thing. He said I was shaking so they wheeled me to surgery, put the anesthesia in and did the surgery. This is good because I didn't feel the surgery, but bad because I hate not remembering anything! Oh well, i'll definitely take not feeling it over not remembering it.

Anyways, I woke up with a bulky cast on (which I was not expecting). Everything about this surgery was a surprise. I am so glad they took care of the problem, but I am having a hard time with recovery. I am right handed so it is very hard to use my left hand. I can't straighten my fingers at all or twist my wrist. This has resulted in Bradford doing my hair, helping me dress, undoing anything with a lid, and so much more. I am so dependent on him right now. I mean I love that he is here and helping me, but I wish I could do things on my own. I'm impatient and very independent so Bradford keeps saying this is good for me...maybe he is right. Anyways, what I thought was going to be a dinky little surgery with a 24 hour recovery has turned in to so much more. I go back to teaching tomorrow so we'll see how that goes considering I can't write! Wish me luck!

Random picture, i know. This is from our cruise but it shows our new favorite thing to do: monopoly deal. If you have not played it, come over and we'll play with you. We play at least one round before we go to bed every night, I'm the reigning champ :)

This is my brother Ty. He is really cute despite what this picture might show. He just got his mission call! He leaves on June 1 to Monterrey Mexico. I'm so proud of him!

Jenessa

The Smooth Tuna

Alright squadron, lets get serious. We all know that this blog thing is a girl thing. Now that we got that out of the way

The Smooth Tuna will be taking the field every Thursday night in the big WX. Ness and I are doing a co-ed indoor soccer league with some family and some friends. K, we are getting serious again. For some odd reason, I am so pumped for this. Last time I played was when Jenessa was a brides-made for Linds. Bridger and I had to cover for the missing players. Little known fact, I scored the winning goal with my left foot and it hit the top right corner. Basically it was the most amazing shot ever. We won 11-10. To be honest, it wasn't the winning goal, I think it was the 9th goal for our team. But, if I had not scored that goal, we would have gone in to overtime and lost. That has been my only goal in indoor soccer so I tend to glory in it. Ness has probably heard that story like 70 times.

Next.

Ness and I are critically considering backpacking through Europe. I am not providing details on this because we have yet to solidify our plans. But I have to bring it up because I seriously get an adrenaline rush each time I think about it. Here is a hint of what we are thinking:

Next.

Ok, I really don't think there is a next.

Free Time

Bradford is the executive secretary in our ward so he spends Wednesday nights at the church for meetings. Usually I go with him for at least part of the time, but tonight I didn't. So what did I do?

Nothing at all. Besides finishing off our pint of this stuff (don't worry, it was almost already gone):

Indoor soccer starts next week. Hallelujah!

Finish line

And just like that, it is all over. Countless tests, hundreds of pages worth of papers, glazed eyes from reading, late nights, early mornings, high stress, tears, and laughs have all led me to this point. I am a college grad. Somehow, I managed to make it. I loved being in school; I know I will miss it. But for right now, I am so excited to be done.

And what did Husband do for me? This little box might answer the question.

Isn't he the best?

University of Utah, Class of 2010...yep, I am a part of that!

Cute Wife

To start off, my cute wife loves sleep.
Loves it.
When 10:30 rolls around, wife is ready for bed.

A short time ago my buds and I went to the Rocket Summer concert for BNO with the D-7 (Boys Night Out, Destructive Seven) I've had boys nights before, but this one was different. I went to the concert (which was really good by the way) and we had a joyous time. But when 10:30/11 rolled around, I started missing wife like crazy. I knew when the concert would be over she would be asleep however. But I still wanted to get home to her so bad. I kept hoping that Bryce would stop playing and end the concert already so that I can hurry and get home. Once it ended, my buddies took me home and I sprinted up to our apartment around midnight. I opened the door to my cute wife laying on the couch waiting for me. As fun as the concert was, coming home to a wife waiting for me topped the concert by a long shot.

Now I know why people get married.

Husband Fail

Let me share with you an interesting statistic that I came across the other day. When Jenessa and I got married, we had six bowls. We now have 3. In 7 months I have broken half of our bowls. You may be asking how I still have self-esteem. Well, you have a false assumption, I have lost all self-esteem. The last mishap was this past week. I was trying to get my sweet wife a bowl of pumpkin ice cream. I just cleaned the bowl so it was wet. I got a rag and started drying it when it slipped from my hands and shattered on the floor.
50%...
thats an F.
In marriage.

But the curse continues, just this morning I was once again being a nice husband and making wife toast with jam. Our jam is in a Tupperware container. Yep, dropped that. Yep, it broke. Yep, you're right about that too, I didn't think they could break either. But they do. So our floor and my foot are now very sticky with jam residue.

This led me to make the best joke ever. I had a bad case of toe jam. :)
